Snow Day!!!

Is is bad that I am happy today is a snow day? When I told my kids that school was closed because of the weather, they were so sad. Their little faces showed such disappointment of missing their first Christmas Party and all I could do was use everyone once of energy to control my body from breaking out into a jig! Bad Mommy!
I should use this day to clean the house, but, I'll spend it blogging. One of the girls has a runny nose, so no snow playing for us.
My husband must have felt his work as we know it would collapse if he did not arrive, so the trouper left at 5:30 in horrible conditions to grudge to work. 2 1/2 hours later he arrived safe and sound. Actually, it didn't take him as long as I thought and honestly I'm just glad he got there safely.

The Gingerbread House

Has anyone else embarked on one of these with their kids? I know Kathleen has. This was just a pre-made kit from Walmart. It was a family project we took on last week. Alot of craziness..my 5yr old was eating the candy- not putting them on the house. This of course, erupted in many arguments between kids -STOP EATING IT!. My 3yr old has a little issue with getting his hands dirty or sticky..so, every time he touched the icing..AAHH..WASH MY HANDS! And big sister was directing everyone where to put the candy- DON'T PUT IT THERE!
Of course, they didn't like the taste of the gingerbread, so, sadly, the house didn't last. It's broken shell was tossed a few days later.
All in all...good family fun though.

Catholic School paying off!

So most kids like to pretend play...princess, ninja, house, pirates....anything right? Well, my girls are no different, they love to pretend play and dress up. Their imaginations amaze me, but, today they really blew me away.
I was talking to Mom (as I do most of the day) and came downstairs to find my 4 year old playing the "Birth of Baby Jesus". The slightly older of the two was Baby Jesus and her sister was Mary, it was quite a sight. They were dressed with shirts on their heads to look like vails and everything. They asked me to get off the phone to play the roll of Joseph and I told them I wanted to be the donkey and they just chuckled. When I wrapped up the call, they had retreated to Emily's room just staring at their bookshelf. I asked what they were looking for and was ignored. All of sudden Emily ran into the other room and I heard her say "I got it", it was the story of the birth of Baby Jesus. I asked if she wanted me to read them the story and she said "no, we have to use it for reference."
Too cute!!! Love the fact they were pretend playing Baby Jesus, but, loved it even more they wanted it to be accurate.

As most parents know, your children never let you down in the I'm going to embarrass You department and my girls are no different.

Yesterday was my "annual visit" and I wouldn't normally bring my girls, however, we had many things yesterday and I had no choice...that was my first mistake! So after sitting for nearly an hour, we got in to see the doctor. All was going fine until the nurse asked me to undress to nothing and put on the exam gown. Well, my kids were just bewildered by the fact that I was going to "naked" in the doctors office. This lead them down a path of hysterics, with no return. Finally, the doctor came in and greeted all of us. I apologized for bringing the girls and for the non stop giggles. I told him how fascinated they were about me having to get naked. So, try to break the ice and relax me, the doctor said the girls "So what is Santa going to bring you ladies?". My daughter...yes daughters... said Pee Pee in the Potty!! The doctor of course didn't know that Pee Pee in the Potty was a stupid doll they keep asking for, so he said "oh, do you pee pee in the potty"? WRONG!!! They thought this was just the funniest thing, to have a doctor ask such a silly questions. My girls could no longer control their silly behavior and then... I'm almost too embarrassed to say...they picked up my undergarments , smelled them and said "Mommy has stinky underpants". AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I could have died , they proceeded to smell all of my clothes and continue to say more silly things.

Oh my God, my face was every shade of red. Now remember, I am legs up, doctor into my full exam and this is what my kids say. I couldn't imagine a more embarrassing situation. Luckily, the doctor was so nice and calm and said "girls...worse than boys when it come to be gross". This just made them laugh even more and then proceed to put all of my clothes on their heads and sing "pee, pee in the potty". The exam finally ended and the doctor wished us all a Merry Christmas and said to the girls " I hope to get Pee Pee in the potty doll". Ugg...they will NEVER get that doll if this is what I have to endure.

What a day! I suppose most people wouldn't share this story. I tell all of my embarrassing stories. I guess it makes me humble and hopefully makes other people not feel so silly when something happens to them. I swear I am the Queen of embarrassing stories and "yes", I do tell them all. From when I dyed my mouth blue and didn't know it after running errands all day, to wearing white to a wedding. Of course now with the girls, they reveal every embarrassing detail of my life. They are just taking the pressure off me!

Another Man in My Bed

Ok, so, it not another man. But, he is a male. He is three years old and is a bed crasher. My son goes to bed fine at night, but, somewhere between midnight and 3 am...he crashes our bed. He used to wake me up "Mom, can I sleep with you?" . I foolishly would say "Sure". Of course, at these crazy hours of the night, I am too tired to fight a child about anything. So, he would sleep with us. Now, he doesn't even wake me. Twice, I have rolled over and knocked the poor kid out of the bed. My husband doesn't even realize he is there..(don't wake Dad...he will put you back in your own bed). My 2 older daughters just broke this habit last year or so. Now, my son is the culprit. Thank goodness the little one is still in a crib. Do all children do this? Or am I too much of a softie? Oh well, after this child is done with this phase, only 1 kid to go. Sleep is like a light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not sure if it his cool name or if my kid just watches too much tv...but, he loves our new President Elect. He gets excited when he is on tv and even watched him on Cspan.

They grow up

THEY GROW UP WAY TO SOON....

Yesterday as we were getting ready to leave for Gymnastics, Emily said "Mom, did you know Santa isn't real? Noah told me Santa was just made up and really didn't come to our houses". She took me by surprise, as I didn't expect to hear this from my kids until much later. I tried to re-assure her that in fact not only did Santa live at the North Pole, but, he works very hard making ALL the toys for boys and girls to bring on Christmas Day. (That one was tough to say, seeing as how I spent the day at work writing Letters from Santa to all the kids.) She wasn't convinced so I said "Who do you believe me or Noah?" I'm sad to say, Noah won that one!
I didn't want to over explain, so I said to her "believe what is in her heart" and that really the only thing at Christmas we truly should believe in is Jesus. I was happy to say her response to that was "Mom, everyone knows baby Jesus is in heaven, but, Santa IS NOT at the North Pole".
