I'm not sure why I was looking for my spring form pan, I don't bake and have no idea what it does, but, needless to say I spent hours looking for it yesterday. I knew I had one, my Mother gave me one when I got married, perhaps she had longed to come to my house for a spring form cake...I don't know. She bought me a ton of baking sheets, cake pans, etc... yet this darn pan was no where to be found. I looked everywhere...OK under the cabinets... but it had vanished. The more I thought about it, I couldn't find the bread pan she bought me either, it was so strange. After hours of searching I gave up, I figured it got lost in the move or I re-gifted it to some other poor soul with the desire to bake.
I went about the rest of the day cleaning, as I do on Tuesday and actually made chocolate chip cookies later in the day. After dinner I allowed the girls to have a couple of cookies while they stayed up and watched a new Dora movie. We have these special dessert plates we use and they are on a high shelf in the cabinet. Pete usually gets these, but, with him out of town I had to get them myself. Rather than taking the 2 seconds to pull over a chair, I hoped on the counter and grabbed the plates. I noticed my fake plant on top of the cabinets were a little dusty, so I stood up to get a better look and SURPRISE... my cake pans. I was using them to give a little height to the plants so you could see the over the crown molding of my cabinets. I started to laugh and checked out the rest of the things I used to prop up my ever so important brick-a- brack and low and behold.... the kids baby books!!! OK, for that I get a bad Mommy, but, at least they are safe and I won't forget were they are. Well, I guess I will forget because a couple of years ago a friend asked to see the ultrasound pictures from the girls and when she came over, she nearly died when I hoped on the counter top and pulled their books down. It was actually pretty funny and she said "only you Kat".
Unfortunately, many things in my life are this un-organized and only my close friends really know this. It's known in my circle of friends that I don't take pictures and if I do, don't count on ever seeing them. I am trying to be better with the girls and their keepsakes, but, failing miserably at that too. I have saved all of their school projects, but, I'm sure that won't last past this year.
I guess one of my resolutions should have been to become more organized or maybe keep a big list of where I put things. I guess I'll never forget were my pan is now.
What about you? Organized or pan on shelf person?
