WALKING FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS (CF) AND AUTISM
On May 17, 2009 I will be participating in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's annual GREAT STRIDES walk. As a team member for DOLCE RITA, I have made a commitment to GREAT STRIDES to help finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
GREAT STRIDES is an event that raises money to help support vital cystic fibrosis (CF) research and care programs. CF is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems of tens of thousands of children and young adults. People with CF suffer from chronic, and often fatal, lung infections and have difficulty digesting food. Ten million Americans are symptom less carriers of the defective gene which cause CF. Although recently developed therapies have made a difference in treating the symptoms of CF, it is not enough. We continue to lose at least one precious life to CF every day.
On February 12, 2005, Pete's cousin Rita, succumbed to CF. Rita was a beautiful person who exuberated undying strength, unselfishness and compassion for others. It is in her memory that we walk this year as a team to raise money to stop this disease.
I will be walking at Soldier Field with family and friends supporting the teams 5th year as the DOLCE RITA team. If you would like to make a donation or find out more how you can help find a cure, just click the picture of Pete & Rita on the side.
I will also be walking for WALK NOW FOR AUTISM , on May 16th, 2009 in support of my niece Emma. Autism has such a vast spectrum, that research needs to continue to unlock the mysteries of this disease. If you would like to donate to our team, please click the picture on Emma's picture to side You can also learn more about Emma and her family by clicking the PUZZLE ROOM link on the side.
Yes, the walks are in the same weekend. I will need prayers that I can do it!!!
Thanks bloggers!!!
