Have you ever volunteered your spouse for something he/she may not necessarily want to do? Well, I do that ALL the time to Pete and it drives him nuts!
His current "act of kindness" is volunteering to be the coach of the girls soccer team. Don't get me wrong, Pete loves sports and of course loves the girls even more, however, coaching and putting himself out there for others is not his thing.
At times he can be a little shy, so this is a big things for him. Don't get be wrong he's not some social outcast that doesn't speak to others, he just enjoys staying within his comfort zone with people he already knows. Luckily for him, I am the exact opposite; so in the past 7 years of marriage he has come out of his shell a little.
The girls are beyond thrilled that their Dad is coaching and I think he may be coming around to the idea too! I don't doubt the fact that he will be a great coach, I just hope he realizes it too!
I'll keep you posted on season; we start practice next week and our first game is in two weeks. We're called THE LITTLE GREEN KICKERS and have a mixed team of 4-5 year olds'. This should be fun! I keep telling him, "how hard can it be?", little kids will run around a field chasing a ball for hours. Especially if their motivation is juice boxes and fish crackers!
What about you? Who are you more like? Pete- a little shy, doesn't like to be outside your comfort zone of friends, however, will take a leap once in awhile? Or more like me? Not shy at all, would offer your help to anyone and always putting yourself out there? I would love to hear!
